Worship - setting time apart to give God praise
Each week, we gather ... as people who are on a journey with God, a journey to know Him more and to be known by Him.
He is an incredible God who loves us deeply and invites us into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our response of embracing what He has done for us is to worship Him with our very lives. When we gather together on Sunday morning, we are setting time apart to give God praise, to experience the life changing presence of an incredible God, to encounter Him and learn of Him through prayer, music and teaching, to be encouraged in the daily challenges of life, and to be renewed to live out our lives in worship before God.
Dwell - "an evening of worship under the sky""
Dwell is a time and a place for people to gather together to worship God and reflect on His presence that dwells with us. Friendship Community Church is located on an incredible piece of property and "dwell" takes advantage of this beautiful outdoor space. These outdoor worship evenings have included worship music, spoken word, poetry and readings, communion and creatively prepared prayer stations. Everyone is welcome to attend these evening of being together in God's creation and enjoying His presence. For more information contact Sharon@friendshipcommuity.ca or visit our Facebook page and calendar for more details and to hear news about an upcoming "dwell" evening.
Our next Dwell event will take place on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018.
We also have a number of Outdoor Worship Nights planned for the summer.
Please take note of these two dates:
Monday, July 30th
Tuesday, August 14th
Worship Ministries Teams
We welcome people to volunteer in the area of worship ministries. A worship team prepares each week for the time that the church gathers together on Sunday morning. Currently, we have several worship teams with many people volunteering. Commitment to these teams includes a practice during the week, a time of preparation on Sunday morning before the services, and the two worship services.
We are continuously seeking individuals who would like to be involved in worship ministry. We ask that they be people who have a love for God and His church, who have a passion to worship Jesus Christ , who are trying to live out His teaching in their daily lives, and who are growing in their skill in the area of musical worship.
We look for people who have a solid grasp of music, and have the ability to play an instrument and/or sing in the context of a worship band environment. If you are new to worship ministries at Friendship, we will probably invite you to attend a practice or meet with Sharon, the worship pastor, to have an informal time of playing music and singing. We cannot always include everyone who is interested in being part of our weekend worship service, but will endeavor to find a place of ministry in the church for those that want to be involved.
If you are interested in talking about worship ministry, please email or call Sharon Baerg. Sharon's email address is email@example.com.
Thoughts on Worship
By Sharon Baerg
Some of my favourite verses about worship are found in the book of Romans. Paul, the writer of Romans, talks about the fact that real worship is more than what we do when we get together on Sunday morning. Real worship is about walking out our lives in relationship with Jesus Christ, which means trying to live as He taught us to live – loving God, loving people.
Place Your Life Before God
1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:1-2, The Message)
